John McCardle became a member of the California State Bar in 1991. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; and before the U.S. District Courts of California’s Eastern, Northern, Central and Southern Districts. He received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Denver in 1981, and graduated Order of the Coif from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, in 1991.

John began his legal career in 1991 after serving 10 years in the U.S. Air Force where he rose to the rank of captain. John practiced five years with a Sacramento firm that specialized in aviation law and insurance defense, then moved to a large national litigation firm where he gained experience in a number of areas, including construction law, employment law, and professional malpractice defense.

Beginning in 2001, John served as Senior Staff Counsel for the California Department of Veterans Affairs handling litigation in state and federal courts as well as transactional matters such as bond finance issues and complex land acquisition agreements. In 2007, he began work with the Law Offices of K. Greg Peterson, his practice focusing on business and commercial real estate litigation.

John joined Kraft Opich LLP in 2010 and currently represents institutional lenders and other Northern California creditors in matters of collections, commercial litigation, commercial unlawful detainer, creditors rights and real estate.

John has a broad base of expertise gained through having represented clients in a wide variety of challenging legal matters in federal and state court trials, administrative hearings, and appellate courts. His approach to litigation is, first and foremost, to resolve disputes with high quality, cost effective legal advice, consistent with implementing strategies that will both protect the clients' interests and expeditiously bring matters to a favorable conclusion. He knows that creativity is often required to reach favorable outcomes.
